Look out this week for the new range of Oakley Sunglasses where we are now an official stockist. WE have a range of Golf specific glasses as well as ones you can use for general usage. Pop in to the shop to take a look, you will not miss them as we have them in a fantastic display case. Also this week we have taken delivery of our Green Lamb Spring/Summer range for the ladies which looks really striking so again pop in view the range.
I have had another busy week conducting custom fits at the club and one of our members who took advantage was David Bobbin. He was using some Titleist AP1's purchased from myself a few years ago but was considering the new AP2 714. Because they are forged with a smaller head I think David was a little nervous but after our fitting session he realised they offered a surprising amount of forgiveness as well as great feel, looks and versatility. If you would like to book a fitting session with myself to look at the best clubs for your game please ring me on 01603251394 or visit my new website at www.markallenpro.co.uk

The competitive season really got underway this week starting with the Famous Grouse foursomes on Saturday. AS always this was very well supported and was won with a fantastic score of nett 63 by Clive Evans and Ray Dineen. I was particularly pleased with this as Ray is a regular lesson customer and I always take a keen interest in my pupils. Ray normally books about 6-8 lessons per year with myself to make sure he is working on the right things which is a great way of keeping on top of your game.
Here is a short run down of events by Clive himself:
"We started on the 9th hole and both played consistently without any significant wayward shots. Two shots stood out; when Ray chipped in from the edge of the 6th green for a birdie 3 and when he played out of the bunker on the 8th to within 4 feet and I sank the putt for a par 4. Our worst hole was scoring a 5 on the par 3 11th.
The course was in excellent condition and it helped us to score 39 & 41 on the two halves for a net 63 comprising 8 gross pars, 1 gross birdie, 8 net pars and 1 net bogey."
On the Junior front I went across to watch our junior KK Smith team play Caister in the first round of the Junior Myhill on Sunday. It was a tough draw and particularly as the there was a 20-25 mph wind blowing across the course. WE lost but I think all of our team saw it as a valuable learning experience and represented our club extremely well.
This weekend sees the National Pro-am competition where the winner partners me in a regional qualifying round later in the year so best of luck to everyone competing.
