Look out this week for the new range of Oakley Sunglasses where we are now an official stockist. We have a range of Golf specific glasses as well as ones you can use for general usage. Pop in to the shop to take a look, you will not miss them as we have them in a fantastic display case. Also this week we have taken delivery of our Green Lamb Spring/Summer range for the ladies which looks really striking so again pop in view the range.
Last week I talked about customers going to manufacturers for fitting sessions this week I am looking closer to home. Tony Young was one of our members who recently had a fitting session with myself as he was looking at new irons. After measuring Tony and looking at his game we came to the conclusion that the new Ping Karsten Irons were giving him the most benefit. Because of Tony’s height they needed quite upright lie angles and we also fitted graphite shafts to help with clubhead speed. I also decided to streamline Tony’s clubs as it was apparent that he was only using certain irons so that he is only carrying clubs that are being used. Tony took delivery of his new irons on Tuesday and I look forward to them giving great benefit to his game. With the weather starting to turn the playing season is looking not that far away. This included dealing with slopes, bunkers, punch shots and also strategies for some of the holes. This week I have had one of our members Nick Smith review the G25 Hybrid range from PING. He was so impressed that he actually went on to purchase two for his own bag so he must have convinced Mrs Smith!
Nick commented:
“The G25 Hybrids have a good size head (larger than the i25 hybrid) which gives you a great feeling of confidence when placed behind the ball. Like the woods and driver in this range they have a matt finish to the head which I have found very pleasing to the eye and does not distract you in any way. The club feels slightly heavier than my current hybrid but I felt that helped keep a constant well timed swing. The hybrid used had a 20 degree face which gave a mid height flight and cut through the wind without any deviation. The feed back of the club was fantastic and the feeling as the ball was struck filled me with total confidence. I found I gained a little more distance (10-15 yards) over my current hybrid which has an 18 degree face so although having more loft it produced more distance. Once again Ping has produced an outstanding club which I would highly recommend. I just now need to convince the wife it is time to update my clubs.”
