What a day we had for our regional Pro-Am on Friday! We had a phenomenal rainfall near the end, which flooded the course and forced a suspension of play for nearly two hours.
After great work by the PGA and our own greenstaff we all managed to get back out there and complete our rounds and the shoot-out afterwards.
Congratulations to Mark Talbott from Thorpe Hall golf club who won the Pro's prize with a 66.
Tom and Michael did well shooting 69 and 71 respectively comfortably, leaving the old pro behind!
Overall it was a great day and there was some more home success on the amateur side. Tom's team of Alan Sheridan, James Ong and Keith Reeve finished second in the team event and Keith then went on to win the Amateur shoot-out.
Coaching news
Look out next week for the launch of Winter coaching packages from both Michael and myself. Remember the winter months are the perfect time to make changes in your game and now at the end of the season is the perfect time to reflect on your golfing year. Let Michael or me help you with assessing where you are with your game from which we can put together a plan to make improvements going forward.
It has been a busy week on the fitting front with several members taking advantage of our fitting capability to ensure the best clubs for their game. Both Nick Long and Sally Benton have been our ES14 launch monitor to look at their numbers. Nick was looking at new Irons, Driver and fairway metal and we decided to go with PING and Sally had a wedge fit also deciding on PING.
We also managed to source a set of Nike Irons for one of our Junior members, despite not stocking them. This is the benefit of being part of Foremost, the biggest UK Golf retail group. We are able to source any product at the best prices even if you don't see it in store. If you are looking for help choosing the right equipment do not hesitate to ask one of the Pro Shop staff.
Last year, member of 15 years Mike Wilson was diagnosed with cancer last year. I'm sure we are all pleased to see that his treatment has been successful and he is now back on our golf course!
His son and my former assistant David is running the Birmingham Half Marathon on the 18th October, along with two fellow PGA Professionals to raise money for Cancer Research UK, and would ask that if you can donate to this very worthy cause please do so at the following link by clicking here
Do you know how far you hit the ball?
Over recent weeks I have been conducting quite a few gapping sessions for members. This is where I or one of the pro shop team will spend 45 minutes measuring your distances on our ES14 Launch Monitor and record them for you making sure you have the correct set composite. These sessions are available at a special price of only £20. Contact one of the Pro Shop team to arrange an appointment.
Get your game assessed
I have been very busy conducting game assessments over the last couple of weeks, helping members with the best lesson plans for their games. This is where I sit down over a cup of coffee with you and run through a series of questions and get you to measure your own game. Once I have done this I will also conduct a swing check. After going through this process I will then propose a lesson plan that will suit your game as well as assessing whether your equipment is giving you the best opportunity to optimise your game. Looking at these factors as well as your practice habits and mental game is key in getting the most out of your golf both in terms of performance and of course enjoyment. If you would like to make a strong finish to 2015, please contact one of the Pro Shop team to make an appointment.
Driving Challenge
Why not take our 10 yard challenge? This is where we put you on our ES14 Launch Monitor and we believe we can get you a minimum of 10 extra yards on your Driver. If you would like to take up the challenge please contact one of the Pro Shop team.
New in store
We have had a busy week in the shop taking delivery of our Autumn/winter clothing ranges from Under Armour, Green Lamb and Glenmuir. Make sure you pop in to the shop to take a look.
Price Match Policy, Non Stocked Products and Annual Product Survey
As I have stated recently please remember that we can source product we do not stock and will always endeavour to price match where we can. Your business is very important to us and we appreciate every opportunity to secure it.
I would also like to make you aware that as part of Foremost Golf, the UK's largest buying group, we can source products through our central warehousing even if we don't stock the product on the shop floor.
EBAY Shop
We now have an EBAY shop, if you have any old clubs post 2000 this is the time to sell them. All you need to do is drop them into the shop, we will assess them, put them straight onto our site at a sensible selling price and if they sell the money goes on your golf shop account. You will be surprised just how quick we can turn your old clubs into ££££'s . .
Only this week I have managed to liquidate some clubs for a couple of our members so that they can look at new equipment.
