Once again we were treated to some fantastic golf from the World's best players at the 4th and final Major, the USPGA at Whistling Straits last week. The standard of golf and shots produced were exceptional, considering the course was playing at 7514 yards and boasted a total of 967 bunkers!
Jason Day certainly proved a worthy winner after coming so close in previous attempts, and finally managing to hold off the efforts of the new World Number 1, Jordan Spieth. Another pleasing sight at the tournament was the return of Rory McIlory. Considering the lay-off he has had from the game, I thought he produced some fantastic golf and will undoubtedly shake of the rustiness to finish the year strongly!
It will be fascinating to watch the likes of Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlory, Dustin Johnson and co. compete against each other in the majors next year (oh and don't forget Tiger!!).
Michael and Mark at the PGA Fourball Championship, Carden Park
Unfortunately Michael and I weren't quite as successful as Jason Day at last week's PGA Fourball Championship. Knowing the quality of the field we were facing, our first target was to try and make the cut, however the first day's play left us rueing our missed chances having provided ourselves with some decent opportunities.
We knew a quick start was required on day 2 to aid our chances of being there the following day, however some average golf proved costly and sadly we were unable make the necessary moves up the leaderboard. Overall we were pleased to have qualified for the final stage, however we left with a slightly bitter taste in our mouths knowing we could have competed with our best stuff. Not to worry though, we'll be back!
Cobra Fitting Day - Wednesday, 26 August
As I'm sure some of you may have seen already, we are hosting a Cobra Fitting Day next Wednesday, 26 August at the club. This day will enable you to trial any of the clubs in Cobra's new Fly-Z range and consult the Cobra Fitting Technician for his expert advice on club specifications suited to your game.
Appointments are available between 2pm-6pm and can be booked by contacting one of the Pro Shop Team. Also any questions regarding the day, please don't hesitate to contact us!
Do you know how far you hit each club?
Over recent weeks I have been conducting quite a few gapping sessions for members.
This is where I or one of the pro Shop team will spend 45 minutes measuring your distances on our ES14 Launch Monitor and record them for you making sure you have the correct set composite. These sessions are available at a Summer special price of only £20. Contact one of the Pro Shop team to arrange an appointment.
Get your game assessed
I have been very busy conducting game assessments over the last couple of weeks, helping members with the best lesson plans for their games. This is where I sit down over a cup of coffee with you and run through a series of questions and get you to measure your own game. Once I have done this I will also conduct a swing check. After going through this process I will then propose a lesson plan that will suit your game as well as assessing whether your equipment is giving you the best opportunity to optimise your game. Looking at these factors as well as your practice habits and mental game is key in getting the most out of your golf both in terms of performance and of course enjoyment. Throughout May and June Michael and I are offering these assessments FREE so if you would like to make 2015 your best ever golfing year please contact one of the Pro Shop team to make an appointment.
Driving Challenge
Why not take our 10 yard challenge this summer? This is where we put you on our ES14 Launch Monitor and we believe we can get you a minimum of 10 extra yards on your Driver as I did with Louise. If you would like to take up the challenge please contact one of the Pro Shop team.
Price Match Policy, Non Stocked Products and Annual Product Survey
As I have stated recently please remember that we can source product we do not stock and will always endeavour to price match where we can. Your business is very important to us and we appreciate every opportunity to secure it.
I would also like to make you aware that as part of Foremost Golf, the UK's largest buying group, we can source products through our central warehousing even if we don't stock the product on the shop floor.
EBAY Shop
We now have an EBAY shop, if you have any old clubs post 2000 this is the time to sell them. All you need to do is drop them into the shop, we will assess them, put them straight onto our site at a sensible selling price and if they sell the money goes on your golf shop account. You will be surprised just how quick we can turn your old clubs into ££££'s . .
