My Titleist Driver Fitting

Next Monday I will finally get my hands on the new Titleist TSi Driver and Metals. I am going for a fitting at Titleist headquarters at St Ive's ahead of the product launch in mid-November and will report back with my views next week.

We will have the fitting equipment in the Swing Room on 26 October.

As with everything else we have done through this period your safety is paramount, We will therefore be doing lessons on the hour to give myself and the team time between appointments to clean down any equipment such as balls, clubs, GCQuad, etc.

Government Guidelines

Can we just thank everyone for their compliance with the new guidelines involving Face coverings in the shop.

As this becomes another new ‘normal’ most people will probably have their own personal masks. However, we will have disposable masks available for those who want to enter the shop and don’t have one. We once again plan to provide an offering of essentials from outside the shop, when the weather allows, as we think this will be more convenient.

Remember we have a one way system in operation, there is a hand sanitizer station set up at the entrance of the shop and we will be asking everyone to use this facility on entry and exit. This will enable you to handle product in the shop, we will however need to follow strict guidelines on trying clothing and shoes on. Any product that is tried on but not purchased will be placed in quarantine for 72 hours for your safety. Initially, there will be only two people allowed into the shop at a time and we would ask everyone to maintain the 2m social distancing shown by markings on the floor.

Order Collect Play

If you wish to have refreshments at the turn please ring the pro shop when you are on the 9th tee and speak to one of the team. Let us know what you would like and we will have it prepared for you to collect from a table near the 10th Tee. Payment will be taken by debiting your Shop account.

Tyrrell Hatton followed up his impressive BMW PGA Championship win with a T3 on the PGA Tour over the weekend - not bad after a late dash across the pond following his Wentworth triumph! In Europe, Aaron Rai has finished first, second and third over his last four events.

Treat your feet

Bounce made simple

You’ll often hear golf commentators say “the bounce is your friend” but what is ‘bounce’ on a wedge? Well, it refers to the angle of the leading edge and plays an important role in how your wedge interacts with the turf through impact.

As the image shows above, the higher the wedge bounce the more the leading edge is off the ground and pointing upwards.

But how does this help you? Well, having the correct bounce for the course conditions and your swing type will offer additional forgiveness and promote a better strike, which is something that we can talk you through more in-store.

One thing we will say is that getting the correct bounce - as well as grind and loft - on any new wedges is really important.
