Putter fitting

Putter fitting has evolved over the last few years with more golfers understanding the importance of selecting the right tool for the job. Head shape, visual alignments, grip type are just some of the things that can affect how your putter performs.

Since delivering lessons with Capto, it has become apparent that more golfers simply buy putters straight from the rack without being fitted. For those who struggle with speed control, how many of you have considered the loft on your putter could be one of the biggest things affecting this. Generally said putters come with around 3-4* of loft, with most players adding loft through the ball. This generates high launch and reduces the true roll of the putt. Using the correct loft for your technique will allow the ball to start rolling sooner and give you a better roll. 

Head shape also plays a key role in the way you aim your putter. Mallets, tend to favour a right aim bias whereas a blade left aim bias. The list can go on, but one thing is for sure.... picking putters off the rack simply because they look good isn't always the best option.
