Amendoeira

Our Spring Coaching trip to Amendoeira in Portugal proved to be a great weekend. Chase and I took 14 members and did some coaching in the morning and played each afternoon.

The weather was fantastic as were the courses.

Team Allen managed to pip Team Heywood by a single point and David Bussey emerged as the winner of the individual competition. Roll on the next trip, watch this space!

Welcome Sean and congratulations

Many of you will have already seen our new recruit to the Pro Shop team, Sean Brady.

He started with us on Monday having previously been at Sprowston and will prove to be a great asset.

Congratulations are also in order as he has just passed the last segment of his PGA Foundation Degree so is now fully PGA Qualified.

I'm sure you will all join with me in welcoming him to the club and wish him all the best.

We have been very busy in store this week with new products arriving in store for the new season. Chase and Sharon have been using all their merchandising skills to display them clearly.

Callaway Demo Day

Tuesday saw us stage our latest Callaway Demo Day with lots of members taking the opportunity to try the latest ranges.

Alex from Callaway was using Trackman to try to achieve the best possible numbers for each customer.

If you were unable to make the day we will have another one on May 30 or pop in to the shop to book a fitting using our GC2 technology.

Head Measurement Technology is here

I have now introduced Head Measurement Technology (HMT) in to our Swing room which really puts us at the forefront of technology.

Our GC2 Launch Monitor captured all the ball data where as HMT captures all the club data like accurate Clubhead Speed, Swing path, Angle of attack and Clubface angles as well as Lie and Strike.

All of this information is so important when Teaching and Fitting. Book your session using the new HMT by speaking to one of the team.

Eaton Junior Golf Academy Junior - Easter Camp- Almost Full

Chase is doing a fantastic job with the Academy sessions on a Sunday morning.

Numbers have been so strong that he is looking at a re-structure of the sessions with an additional one being added.

If at first you don’t succeed…

12-months ago, American Kevin Kisner woke up on the Monday after the WGC Match Play Championship nursing the disappointment of a thumping 7&6 final round loss to Bubba Watson.

However, this Monday, the mood in the Kisner camp was quite different after the 35-year-old overcame fellow American Matt Kuchar 3&2 to win his first WGC title and stake a major claim for a Ryder Cup berth ahead of next year's contest at Whistling Straits.

Victories over Tony Finau, Keith Mitchell, Ian Poulter (in a playoff), Haotong Li, Louis Oosthuizen and Francesco Molinari proved Kisner has the ability to go toe-to-toe with the world's elite - maybe he should have been at Le Golf National last year? The wonders of hindsight.

A world-first at the Jordan Mixed Open

This week sees the start of a revolutionary new tournament, where 40 players from each of the Ladies European Tour, Challenge Tour and StaySure Tour (over 50s) will compete against each other for one trophy and the same prize fund.

The likes of Carly Booth, Jarmo Sandelin and Phillip Price will tee it up over three rounds in a tournament that is sure to snatch the headlines. Keep an eye on next week's newsletter for our report.

The clarity of Prizm lenses

Spotlight: Callaway Apex (2019) irons

Irons usually get updated every couple of years, so why did it take Callaway over three years to bring a new Apex iron model to market? Well, quite simply, the Apex CF16 was a brilliant iron that took a while to improve upon.
