Colin Clinches a 5th title and Sue Shines With the competition season really in full swing now there were some really notable performances this week. Firstly in our Seniors Club Championship last Thursday Colin Campbell emerged triumphant for the 5th time with a Gross score of 78, this comes on the back of his superb Gross 70 in the previous Midweek Medal so he is in fine form. Colin became our Senior's Club Champion against a bumper field of 83 players which is great to see. In the handicap section of the event four players tied at the top with a Nett 69 and will now have to play-off for the trophy. John Aspland, Mike Hart, Ian Millins and Bill Baines have arranged the play-off and I will reveal the result once I have it. We had a large contingent of our Ladies play in the Norfolk Seniors Championship at Royal West Norfolk on Monday and they performed extremely well. Congratulations to Sue Hosking who won the Handicap Trophy with Nett Level par and also to our Ladies Captain, Ann Lockhart who was only a couple of shots back. Bad Luck to our Junior Myhill team who unfortunately lost narrowly away at Dereham on Sunday. Despite the result I was really pleased that they competed well against a strong Dereham team. Can I also thank Iain Marshall for looking after the team on the day and he was also very proud of how they performed a represented the club. |
Short game intensive If you were not able to attend our Free coaching sessions last week why not join forces with your playing partners and do one of our Short Game intensive coaching sessions. The session last 90 minutes and we can take up to 5 people with the cost of the session being £75 or £15pp. Speak to Tom or myself and book your session. |

First one way, now the other The U.S. Open had everything from the sublime to the ridiculous, and it’s safe to say that the course set-up played a huge part in this. With much of the debate centred around whether the USGA made conditions too tricky or not, we posed this very question to you over the past week on our website poll and here are the results: 75% of you believe the USGA got it wrong at Shinnecock Hills It really does make for interesting reading. Just a couple of months ago we asked you whether you’d prefer to see 20-under-par win a tournament or two-over-par, and the results were the complete reverse. On that occasion, 82% voted in favour of seeing the world’s best struggle to make a score, which is exactly what happened at the U.S. Open. Click here to let us know your thoughts. |
Which bracket do you fall in? |
There’s one thing that you'll always need in abundance when playing golf and that’s balls - and plenty of them. Each golf ball we sell offers different levels of feel and performance at varying price points, meaning we have something to offer all playing preferences and budgets. |
| Bang for your buck Balls at a cheaper price point usually have one key performance benefit rather than offering a little of everything. This Callaway Warbird follows the trend by offering maximum distance with your longer clubs thanks to its aerodynamic dimples and high-energy core, giving you lots of power for little expenditure. |
| The all-rounder If you’re looking for more balanced performance through the bag but without the premium price tag, this Callaway Supersoft ball is designed to be long, straight and soft. It doesn’t spin as much as the Chrome Soft, but its low compression core helps create long, high flights that land softly. |
| Tour performance The saying 'you get what you pay for' certainly applies when it comes to golf balls. Callaway's Chrome Soft is their premium option, and it's easy to see why, with a soft urethane cover for short-game spin and a graphene-infused core that boosts ball speed and provides more iron control. |
