Hands up if…

We’ve all done it. A solid front nine sees us make the turn one or two under our handicap, and we carry on playing the same over the next few holes. All of a sudden we only have a few holes left to play and think to ourselves: ‘I’ve been going along quite nicely, I wonder what score I’m on.’ A quick glance down at the scorecard reveals we’re on for a great round and nice little handicap cut; we might even win the monthly medal! Ten minutes later and we’ve three-putted the next green, lost a couple of balls and left one in the bunker.

Luckily for us, it’s not just us mere mortals who suffer this kind of feat. Stand up, Dustin Johnson – the current world number one. The American was six shots clear of the field with 18 holes left to play at the weekend’s WGC-HSBC Champions Event, only to shoot five-over on Sunday and lose by two shots to eventual winner Justin Rose.

Captain's away day

Last Friday our Club Captain, John Butler invited a group of Eaton Members to have a day out at Stowmarket which I was fortunate enough to play in. The weather was fantastic as was the company and we all had a great day out. It was the last big golfing event in John's year and was a great success.

Over the past month Titleist have released their new, extensive range of 718 irons, which in total offers 6 different models. Although these irons have only just been released, from the fittings and testing myself and Michael have done on them we've found real benefits in forgiveness, consistency and also distance gains! With it being such an extensive range there is an iron for everyone and the possibility of mixing and matching your set make-up, has made it a lot easier to get exactly the right set of irons for your game. To complement the irons Titleist have also released their most adjustable hybrid to date, the 818!

Volvik Vivid golf balls - Keep a look out!!!

As some of you may have already seen, last week we took delivery of the Volvik Vivid golf ball. These are a premium 3-piece golf ball, with a twist....they come in an array of vibrant colours and a matte finish! This causes the ball to really stand out in flight and is particularly ideal for winter play, players such as Bubba Watson playing them on tour! We are selling the balls individually and in 3s, so why not give them a try!
