Is slow play coming to an end?

The Rules of Golf are undergoing dramatic change at the moment as the R&A and USGA – golf’s two governing bodies – look to bring the game inline with today’s needs. Their Rules Modernisation initiative includes several updates that’ll hopefully bring about a faster speed of play and shorter rounds of golf; no one wants to be taking 4+ hours to play 18 holes.

Well now the European Tour want to do their bit and to be fair to them, they’ve been at the forefront of modernising golf with innovative events such as Super 6 and GolfSixes. This week they’ve introduced a new event onto the 2018 calendar – the 2018 Shot Clock Masters. As the name suggests, players will have a strict 40-second shot clock on each stroke in an aim to cut round time by at least 45 minutes. The punishment if they take too long? A one-stroke penalty.

Volvik VIVID golf balls - keep a look out!

As some of you may have already seen, last week we took delivery of the Volvik VIVID Golf Ball. These are a premium 3-piece golf ball, with a twist. They come in an array of vibrant colours and a matte finish! This causes the ball to really stand out in flight and is particularly ideal for winter play, and with players such as Bubba Watson playing them on tour, they are really making noise in the golf market.

Titleist are coming Eaton Golf Club

Over the past month Titleist have released their new, extensive range of 718 irons, which in total offers 6 different models. Although these irons have only just been released, from the fittings and testing Michael and I have done, we've found real benefits in forgiveness, consistency and also distance gains!

With it being such an extensive range there is an iron for everyone and the possibility of mixing and matching your set make-up, has made it a lot easier to get exactly the right set of irons for your game. To complement the irons, Titleist have also released their most adjustable hybrid to date, the 818!

With the buzz around these new irons and hybrid ranges we're very pleased that we've managed to secure a Titleist Fitting Day on Thursday 9th November from 12pm to 4pm. On this afternoon you will be able to try the new range of irons and/or hybrids, as well as ensuring you get the right specification for you! Titleist offer such a large range of shafts and this is the ideal opportunity to try these as well.

Get your game ready for next year

This week Michael and I are launching our Winter Coaching and Practice packages for Winter 2017/2018. This is the ideal time to analyse how your game has been in 2017 and plan which areas need working on before next spring. Our Winter Coaching package includes six 1/2 hour lessons and also some practice sessions in our Swing Studio. It is designed to provide a structured approach to the areas of the game in need of improvement. We will again also be offering Practice Packages in the Swing Studio which offer a great opportunity to continue working on your game even when the weather is not great.
