Get your game ready for next year

This week Michael and I are launching our Winter Coaching and Practice Packages for Winter 2017/2018.

This is the ideal time to analyse how your game has been in 2017 and plan which areas need working on before next spring.

Our Winter Coaching Package includes six 1/2 hour lessons and also some practice sessions in our Swing studio. It is designed to provide a structured approach to the areas of the game in need of improvement.

Again we will also be offering Practice Packages in the Swing Studio which offer a great opportunity to continue working on your game even when the weather is not great. If you need help in choosing the right package for you please do not hesitate to contact one of the team.

Since last year’s TOUR Championship, Justin Thomas has conjured up five wins – including his maiden Major victory at the USPGA – and seven other top 10 finishes; results that have seen him rise up to fourth in the World Golf Rankings while cementing himself as one of golf’s brightest stars. 

These performances, culminating in a runner-up finish in last week's season-ending TOUR Championship, saw Thomas take the top spot in the FedEx Cup (the PGA Tour’s OOM) and the juicy $10 million bonus that goes along with that.

Fitting news

New sets in the bag

I took one of our members, Mike Ambridge to Titleist Headquarters yesterday to be fitted for the new 718 range of irons. He had a great fitting and tried lots of different heads and shafts and came up with the right set composite for his game. Mike also commented on how accurate the numbers are on our own GC2 launch monitor in comparison to the TrackMan they were using.

I also had a fitting for some new irons and ended up with a combo set of T-MM and AP2 with new shafts. If you would like to arrange a fitting at Titleist or here at Eaton in our Swing studio please do not hesitate to contact one of the team.

Keep your ball in play

If you struggle to keep your drives on the short stuff then it’s probably about time you looked at improving this area of your game. Feeling confident when standing over a tee shot is crucial to hitting a good drive and that’s where we come in.

You might be surprised that there isn’t a bigger difference between the stats in this graph. The real difference comes when you look at how far offline the misses finish.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out hitting it straighter will reduce lost balls and increase your chance of making pars, which is why we highly recommend having a driver you’re confident in and one that’s set-up to counter your most common bad shot.

Layer up, winter's coming

A common misconception among many golfers is that adding layers will completely restrict your swing. Traditionally, if you wanted to stay warm you’d add a big jumper and then maybe a jacket, but would soon overheat, sweat and struggle to swing dynamically. We instead recommend multiple thin and lightweight garments designed to work in harmony with one another.
