Rudi and James shoot the lights out
The weekend saw the staging of the Victory Cup and two of our members managed fantastic scores and will now need to Play-off for the Trophy. James Lazzari and Rudi Hare both recorded nett 63's and will now have to play another 18 holes, both got really nice handicap reductions for their efforts. We were particularly pleased for Rudi in the Pro Shop as he was using a new Titleist 917 Driver fitted by us. Best of luck to both players in the Play-off.
Onwards and upwards for Cullington Team
Well done to our Cullington team who progressed nicely at the weekend with a 27up victory over Middleton Hall at Home. Unfortunately, our Myhill team had a tricky tie away at Feltwell and were beaten 10 down.
Paul, Andy and Matt raising money
Three of my lesson pupils are undertaking big challenges to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support this month.
Paul Andrew is cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats over the next couple of weeks and started at the weekend with some stunning but particularly difficult sections in Cornwall.
Closer to home Father and son, Andy and Matt Hood are taking on the 100 holes in a day challenge this coming Thursday at the Club. They are starting a 4.15am in the morning and will probably finish some time before 9pm.
Both of these challenges are fantastic efforts by the boys and are for a fantastic cause so please support them with some sponsorship, contact the Pro Shop for details of how you can do this.

Play-off defeat for Michael and I
Michael and I played in the PGA 4BBB qualifier at Bush Hill Park Golf Club this week and ultimately we suffered disappointment. We shot a 6 under 64 which put us in a Play-off for the last two spots with four other pairs but went out on the fourth extra hole having had a couple of opportunities, it was a quiet car journey home! This was compounded by Michael suffering a bruised knee having been hit by an errant tee shot on only our 2nd hole, he is okay but a little sore.
On a slightly better note I managed to have a decent finish in the London Open last week at West Essex Golf Club. I struggled on day one on a very bouncy hilly course to an average 77 but shot 71 on Day two in tougher conditions to pull up 32 spots for a tied 16th spot. This was in a field that included at least six players with good European Tour Experience including Norfolk's own Andrew Marshall and Ex BMW PGA Champion, Simon Khan.
Brooks impresses to claim first Major
Brooks Koepka was mightily impressive in winning the US Open at the weekend seeing off the challenge of England's Tommy Fleetwood. His driving was amazing, averaging 322 yards off the tee and hitting 88% of fairways which is a devastating combination. It was a strange tournament with the top three players in the World rankings missing the cut but as always proved to be a great watch.
