Product tester

Thank you to everybody who responded to my appeal for equipment testers, we had a great response and look forward to their findings over the coming weeks. Michael and I got the ball rolling last week by looking at the Mizuno DNA fitting system we now have in stock and also the revolutionary Cobra F7 one length irons.

Mizuno DNA Fitting System

Michael and I both hit some shots using the Mizuno DNA Optimiser which measures club head speed, tempo, kick angle and release factor. Once it has calculated all these factors it then recommends the best shafts for your game in order giving the top three and fifteen in total. Michael and I both found it to be very accurate and we now have all the latest heads in our fitting cart.

If you would like to book a fitting please contact one of the Pro Shop team or click here.

Cobra F7 One Length Irons

Michael and I also both tried the new Cobra F7 one length irons on our GC2 launch monitor and saw some very interesting results. This is the set of irons launched by Cobra which all have a 7 iron length shaft. You would think this would give gapping issues but through the technology employed this is not the case. I found it a little odd using a long iron with a 37.5" shaft and even stranger a short iron with this length.

However, the results were very interesting with a big gain in length for myself and a smaller one for Michael. I was carrying all the irons about 13-15 yards further than I normally do, hitting it lower with the long irons and higher with the short irons.

If you would like to try these revolutionary new irons contact one of the Pro shop team to book a fitting or click here.

Fitting news

The Importance of Ball Fitting

Tom Parkinson recently popped in to the shop and told us he felt he was struggling for length with his current choice of ball. Sharon suggested to him that the best solution was a ball fitting using our GC2. We tried a number of balls and I quickly realised that Tom was getting more distance and better dispersion with a softer compression ball.

I recommended that he try the Srixon UltiSoft ball which he put straight in to action the next day in the Midweek Stableford. Tom played great with the new ball seeing good distance benefits and scored 40 points which placed him first and secured him a handicap reduction. Make sure you are playing the correct ball for your game by booking a ball fitting with Michael or myself.

It has been a busy week in the Swing Centre this week and good to see members achieving benefits in their game.

David Marshall was the first owner at the club of some PING i200 irons after seeing some great improvements in distance and dispersion. He took delivery of them a day after they were launched and is looking forward to using them this season.

I also did a Driver fitting with Carl Heywood where we achieved a 15 yard gain in distance using the new Cobra king F7 Driver. Not only this but by using a stiffer shaft we were also able to achieve better accuracy. This Driver is offered in three colour options but as a keen Manchester City Fan the Blue head was an easy choice!

Upcoming events

Look out next week for the announcement of some Product Launch event Evenings over the next month as we introduce all the latest product.

Also Michael and I will be announcing details of our Ladies and Vets Group Coaching sessions we are planning for the Spring.

MOT your game

Between now and the end of February myself and Michael will be offering Winter MOT sessions checking your equipment and swing before the new season. These will be 1/2 hour sessions costing only £15 and will look at the following areas:

- Loft and Lie Check on all irons

- Grip Check

- Spike check

- Distance check with wedges using GC2

- Swing Check

Anyone booking an MOT session will receive a 10% discount on the cost of re-gripping, re-spikes.

One of our members to take advantage of this offer was 2015 Club Captain, Ted Evans. We looked at his clubs and realised new grips were required as well as a change of loft on his Gap wedge and flattening of the lies in his mid to short irons. Michael did this work when Ted was away and he went out in the Swindle on Monday and got a cheeky 21 points on the back nine!

Book your session and follow Ted's example by contacting one of the team.
